Big Plans For BelfastPosted: September 18, 2011 | |
Sorry for all the guide dog posts lately, but I thought you’d like to know about this.
Every year during the first week of October Guide dogs hold a week of different events, known as “Guide dog week”. This year it is running from the 1st to the 9th of October. There is evena
For the ocasion.
I think it was on the 6th of October when the first 4 guide dogs qualified 80 years ago. (I think it has only been 30 years for Northern Ireland since there was a centre here, but we are celebrating anyway!). So the theme for the week is
“Go for 80”
This could be walking 80 dogs, or something intirely different. As long as £80 is raised it doesn’t matter what you do. One of my friends is doing a “guess the name” of a toy guide dog she has. (A pound a guess).
On the first of October, our district team are holding a
Very special chalenge
Where they have designed an 80 foot obsticle course for people to try walking blind folded with a white cane. They will then be asked for a donation, so they can give as much or as little as they want. This is to raise a bit of awareness of the amount of obsticles that are around us. There will also be stalls and stuff. I think alot of guide dog owners and puppywalkers are going too! Ushi’s border is even coming! I wish her puppywalker was too but she lives over in Scotland so don’t really think it would be possible for her to get over. I’m sure there will be lots of photos though from our facebook page!
Sorry for all the links in this post. Maybe some of you will come along! I’d say it will raise quite a bit of money. I just hoe the weather is good! And that Ushi behaves herself. I’m not gonna expect too much though since there will be so much going on.
I’ll post after it happens!
