When i got this emailed to my inbox, my first thought was
This song by Sam cook
Although it sounded different to how i remember it lol.
When i was 16, i started blogging. My writing back then was so immature. I always started my posts with “Hi” lol. I didn’t really know what a blog was about, but i was bored one day so decided to give it a go. I was still at school then too, studdying hard, preparing to take my GCSES over the next couple of years.
My future was all mapped out-I was going to be a social worker. That plan sort of dwindled and died though when i had to retake my GCSE maths at the college which sort of put a dampener on things. I then got in to helping visually impaired people learn computers on a voluntry bases, followed by an ICT computer course and the voluntry work i do now with guide dogs and Angel eyes NI. Thinking about it now though, i’m not sure i’d be cut out to be a social worker. I think i am too caring.
It’s funny how times can change through the years. I always got told how mature i was at 16, but i believed i was no more mature than the average Joe. Certainly going by my blog, I wasn’t really that mature anyway.
So what was everyone else like at 16? Did things turn out the way you wanted them to?
This post was in response to The Daily Post’s writing prompt: “Only Sixteen.”
Did I really set up my blog four years ago today? Apparently I did!
When I first started blogging, I didn’t really think much of it. I just thought it was cool, and everyone else seemed to be doing it. I researched my options, and was going to go with
But I couldn’t really work it. I remembered reading a blog on something called “Live journal”, so decided to search for that. Up it came, and it seemed to be the most accessible platform.
I was very immature then in my writing, and thankfully I think I have massively improved. I always reflect around this time of year, just making sure I still write sensible things, and that i’m not just writing for the sake of it.
I was known as “rop_heart” on Live journal (I liked medical words at the time lol and thought it sounded cool).
I have grown out of that phase thankfully, and am now known as “The big-t” which sounds much cooler. You will know me as “torie” though.
In about May last year, I decided to move to blogger, simply because I knew more people on blogger. What a job it was transferring all my entries over here though! I had to physically copy and paste each entry and backdate it, as I couldn’t find a tool that transferred Live journal entries to blogger.
So for any new readers, I hope you enjoy the blog, and sorry for all the guide dog entries lol. I just think it would be a good way to keep a record of all the steps I take on my journey with my new dog Ushi.
I hope to welcome many new readers to my world over the next coming year, and to all the old ones-hopefully you’ll still stick around!
Over the last week, i have been busy trying to find ways of importing my
Entries over to here. I have had no luck, so have written out the entries manually. The “Backdate” feature on here is just awesome!!!! Anyway i’m up to 2009, so not far to go now. I’ve hit a snag though….
When i go to link to entries i have already posted, i can get them to link, but when i click on those links, i get a “Page not found” message. I know the entries work, since i can view them if i click on the year they were posted in. So i am going to post the url underneath the link to see if this works. Just to make sure, when you post a link you do the < symbol, followed by the letter A, space, then h r e f all together, then your quotes and the url, title, then (sorry for the techiness). Alternatively, you can press the control, shift and A keys, and the place where yu enter the url pops up. Maybe i should actually try this. When you do the link, you write your url, the year, then the title of the post with dashes? Like “2009/the-first-post.html”? (haven’t got a post called this).
I can post other links, but not to my entries.
Sorry if none of you have a clue what i’m on about. Might try the alternative and see if it works.
I’ve written to the support forum, to see if this helps.
I’m gonna try that now, and again sorry for the rambles. Just thought i’d let you know my progress.
I’ve decided since i haven’t found a way as of yet to import my
Over to here yet-any suggestions welcome! That i will post the entries manually from my other journal. Is there any way of changing the date though to a previous day?
Sorry for such a stupid question lol. I will only post the recent ones, at first, and will start from newest first. Sorry if you guys get alot of posts. I just don’t want to lose my entries.
